This is a monofilament nylon suture material that is not absorbed by the body at all. It is mostly used externally but may be used internally for certain procedures. Dyed blue

Tissue reaction Minimal
Absorption Non absorbable, gradually encapsulated by connective tissue. The thread mass diminishes, approximately 10% a year by rupture of chemical links (hydrolytic action).
