COMPOSITION
Each kilogram of EQUITENS contains Thiamine 60g, Riboflavin 25g, Pyridoxine HCl 10g in a palatable base.
DISCUSSION
Horses deficient in the B group of vitamins (including thiamine, riboflavin and pyridoxine) may show signs of nervousness and irritability and can be difficult to work with. Because thiamine is involved in energy metabolism in the horse, “high
performance” horses require higher amounts of the vitamin. Nervous or unsettled behaviour is often resolved by correcting levels of thiamine, pyridoxine and riboflavin in the diet.
Because EQUITENS is rich in B vitamins it can also be used routinely as a vitamin supplement for racehorses, working horses and horses that participate in endurance events. These horses have a higher energy demand and would require more B vitamins. Thiamine forms an essential part of enzyme systems that mainly involve release of energy from carbohydrates and fats. Riboflavine is required for energy production and oxygen utilisation. Pyridoxine HCl is involved in protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Pyridoxine HCl is also important for health of the blood vessels and red blood cells.
INDICATIONS
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Horses: | 30g daily (4 scoops) |
Ponies: | 15g daily (2 scoops) |
One level scoop is equal to 7,5g of powder. |
The powder can be mixed directly into feed or can be mixed in the drinking water as often as required. EQUITENS may
be administered to any horse already in a stressed condition or to those that are likely to become stressed. It is therefore ideal to use EQUITENS before and during shows, competitions or events that may unsettle the horse. EQUITENS can be given daily, a few days before the event as a loading dose in order to
maintain adequate levels of B vitamins.
